Health is the greatest possession

Lao Tzu

Tara is an authentic spiritual school and a registered charity, offering a unique opportunity for personal and spiritual growth through the paths of Integral Yoga and Esoteric Tantra

We are not just a yoga centre. In Tara we offer a multi-dimensional perspective upon our being encompassing physical body, consciousness and soul.

Join us on 1st March at Health & Healing Day at Tara Yoga Centre! Gain a more holistic perspective upon health and healing to inspire your entire being towards health, wellbeing and happiness.

Health is essential for inner harmony, happiness, and personal growth. To be in good health does not simply mean the absence of ailment, but implies a sense of wholeness, balance, and stability that are guided by our innate wisdom.

Problems with health may be signals from deep within that there is something fundamental in our being that calls for our awareness

Where does a disease start though? Health problems might appear beyond the body, and through the process of awareness, we can find the source of such diseases, and more than this, any form of illnesses becomes an opportunity to know ourselves better.

Let us reconsider our health and healing in a more holistic perspective. When health is approached from a spiritual perspective, the process of healing can become a profound journey. Healing looks beyond the disease, aiming to find the root cause of any health issue.

During this day, we will present some methods offered by the spiritual paths of Yoga, Tantra, Ayurveda, inspiring workshops, talks, gentle yoga practice and wholesome food.

Outline of the programme

11:00 – 11:30am Intro of the day presenting the yogic approach towards health and healing

11:30 – 11:45am Tea break

11:45am – 1pm Hatha yoga practice

Yoga is a wealth of knowledge and techniques that can become a way of living – bringing harmony and peace on each level of your being: the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual.

1 – 2pm Lunch break

2 – 2:45pm Yoga of Consciousness, mental hygiene and it’s health implications

Feeling overwhelmed by life can be a cause of stress, anxiety, depression and even mental illness. The inability to process all of life’s experiences is exactly why tensions such as these accumulate in the body, leading to pain and discomfort, and eventually a whole range of disease. Life will forever become increasingly more complex, and we obviously can’t run away from it all together, so there must be a way to change our reactions to it if we hope to stand any chance of remaining healthy and sane!

Fortunately, yoga presents us with detailed explanations of the mechanisms of the mind, and eminent methods of training our relaxed yet lucid actions in the face of all life’s ups and downs.

2:45 – 3pm Tea break

3 – 3:45pm Nature is our best friend. Healing and regeneration through conscious engagement with nature and her elements.

Being in nature and consciously exploring all the gifts she offers, can nourish and even heal our bodies. In this lecture we will explore how being one with nature regenerates and harmonizes us.

3:45 – 4pm Tea break

4 – 4:45pm Spiritual nutrition

Let your food be your medicine, and your medicine be your food – Hippocrates

Not only is food our medicine, but our food choices are an expression of our inner state of being and reflect our ongoing harmony with ourselves, the world, and the entire creation.

In this presentation, we will explore how according to ancient wisdom traditions, the food that we eat directly influences our states of consciousness.  We will learn how the mind and body are organically interrelated, and our physical bodily condition strongly influences how we think. For example, in Ayurveda, it is established that certain foods affect the qualities of the mind in particular ways. These qualities or states of mind are categorized as the three subtle forces of the ‘gunas’, named sattvic, rajasic, and tamasic.

We will explore how our health and longevity are not the goals of spiritual nutrition but are by products as we develop and deepen a harmonious, balanced life attuned with the universal laws. We will also explore the role of fasting to efficiently detoxify and purify for health and spiritual development, as well as sharing practical tips on how best to do this.

4:45 – 5pm Conclusions, Q&As

Santosha Cafe

A delicious plant-based, gluten-free lunch, healthy snacks, sugar-free cakes full of flavour will be available for purchase.

Spiritual Healing (podcast)

When we are ill, we have one wish – to be whole again, to be healed. There is often a sense that we should not be ill in the first place and that as soon as the symptoms appear we need to get rid of them, by all possible means.

But what if we approached our symptoms with a degree of positivity, as signals and messages from deep within us that will help us not only to heal but also to progress along our spiritual path?

Spiritual Nutrition (podcast)

This lecture will provide an integral understanding of nutrition from a wider, more holistic perspective, incorporating ideas from systems such as Ayurveda and Macrobiotics, as well as from modern discoveries, so that our diet can support our physical, emotional and mental well-being.

We aim to share an understanding of how we can relate to and transform our diet as conscious beings, including insights into the main principles of nutrition, as well as the various types of diet and the pros and cons of each. Practical advice will be given, and there will be time for discussion and questions afterwards.
