The microbiota of the gut is comprised of a complex community of microorganisms inhabiting the gastrointestinal tract that have established a close symbiotic relationship with their human host.

It plays a crucial role in maintaining health, allowing the metabolism of indigestible dietary components and the synthesis of some vitamins, preventing pathogen colonisation and contributing to the maturation and education of the immune system.

Your gut microbiome consists of trillions of microbes, and imbalances in this microbiome can be linked to digestive issues, fatigue, skin irritation, food intolerances, mood changes, and obesity.

This lecture will introduce who these microorganisms that live inside us are, why they are important, as well as the benefits of knowing about this new developing science.

What can we do to have a healthier microbiome, and by so doing, have a healthier life
