An ancient path revealed by Patanjali
Yoga is one of the world’s oldest spiritual traditions and offers a path towards Supreme Liberation, beginning with the questions, What is the purpose of my life? And, Who am I?
The path of Yoga has eight fundamental stages, that in the quest for inner transformation and evolution should be approached and assimilated step by step. In everyday life, this is the gradual process of understanding the different aspects that make up one’s reality. This does not mean the renunciation of all the joys and duties that modern life offers, rather the practice of authentic yoga invites us to engage with the world with all its challenges and pleasures.
The aim of this day retreat is to explore each of Patanjali’s stages, realising that they are interconnected, and all are necessary, no matter one’s level of practice. Yoga is an intelligent system, a spiritual science with a wealth of techniques, methods and knowledge that answer the deepest questions that often leave us perplexed, resulting in a feeling that there is an empty space in life that we long to fill. Through these stages of yoga, we can bring Light to that which is hidden from us, leading to a more fulfilled life with greater purpose.

The day will include:
- How and why yoga works
- The subtle anatomy of the human being
- Yama-s & Niyama-s – the yogic guidelines
- Pranayama – the power of breath
- Hatha yoga practice including Surya Namaskar, or Sun Salutations
- Techniques for activating the superior intellect
- Practice of concentration techniques
- Quality time with like-minded people
- Delicious food!
- …and more!
This day retreat is open for beginners, advanced practitioners and everyone in between, including current students of our Yoga and Tantra courses at Tara. It will be a wonderful opportunity to explore the world of authentic yoga, and to give a powerful impulse to your personal practice.

Meet the teachers
Inka has been on her spiritual journey for over 15 years, practising various modalities. However, none of them could fully answer her curious nature and the questions she felt within nor offered the tools and techniques for accessing higher levels of consciousness, deeper corners of her spiritual heart and awakening her own beautiful femininity and sensuality. Until she came across Esoteric Integral Yoga and authentic Tantra 8 years ago when she committed to the path of transformation working on awakening the State of Shakti.
Absolutely fascinated by the mysterious feminine nature and women themselves, Inka now uses all her knowledge and experience to guide other women on their journey of spiritual evolution towards happiness.

Austin was fascinated by Eastern mysticism and the metaphysical from an early age. He practiced Martial Arts throughout his teens and later studied Psychology and the Healing Arts, before discovering the Yoga course (offered by our school) whilst traveling in India. As he practiced more, he soon realized that he had found his spiritual path and the desire was born to share the experience with others. Austin has been practicing Yoga & Tantra with Tara since 2000 and has been teaching since 2006.

Yama and Niyama
Yama and Niyama are referred to in the well-known spiritual text of the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali in which the 8 steps of the Yoga system are listed.
It becomes obvious that yoga is more than the bodily postures that it is famous for, as indeed postures (asana) constitute only one of the steps listed in the Yoga Sutras. The path of Yoga – meaning to yoke, to unite – connects the individual to the universal.
